Buddy groups provide a vertical grouping within the Preparatory school which allows all children to know pupils in other year groups. Each group is led by a pupil in Year 8 and contains boys and girls from all other year groups, usually about 9 children in all. The groups meet formally two or three times a term to discuss matters of interest such as play equipment, school meals or the organisation of the playgrounds. Views are then collated and action taken where appropriate.
Equally important, all the younger pupils have a number of older "brothers and sisters" who will look out for them and to whom they can and do turn when they feel the need to talk or ask for advice. Our older pupils have several younger "siblings" within the school and all Year 8 have the chance to take on some responsibility.
Pupils in the final year of the Pre Prep join buddy groups in the Summer term before moving into Year 3.
